Cedric Christopher Merkli, born in 1991, was born and raised in Basel. Since studying photography at the F+F School of Art and Design in Zurich, he has been pursuing his independent work in the applied and conceptual fields of photography. In both staged and random situations, his focus is on the snapshot. This results in a collection of encounters that remain as individual images. In his exhibitions, Merkli seeks forms of implementation in which photography creates a connection to the space and thus interacts with the viewer. The diversity of his work is reflected in the spectrum of his exhibition venues: from a postcard stand in a stationery store in Basel to off-spaces in Zurich to the Museum of Modern Art in Baku.
