Christian Kathriner, born in Sarnen in 1974, studied fine art, philosophy, and art history at the Düsseldorf Art Academy. Currently lives in Lucerne.

Christian Kathriner's oeuvre is that of a chameleon. He embodies a type of artist who reappears, first evident in Francis Picabia's motto, which calls for the artist to be thought of as "...a nomad roaming through the world of ideas..." Through the labyrinth of references, allusions, and contexts, he is guided by a confident and personally spun Ariadne's thread, about which it is difficult to say anything more precise than, once again, "Je ne sais quoi"!
