Josef Maria Brun (born 1948, Basel) has been working with the media of painting, drawing, collage, and sculpture for many years. He often combines these media or explores their boundaries. Recently, he has been focusing heavily on collage and is constantly breaking new ground in painting. Painterly moments of chance play just as much a role as the strict compositional concept that guides the artist throughout the process. He is interested in abstract moments as well as the constant return to figurative elements.
