Otto Böhne is the pseudonym used by painter, stage and costume designer Frank Leimbach when he works as a photographer. Born in Wuppertal, Germany, he lived there not far from Otto Böhne Platz. When he started working at Theater Basel and moved to Switzerland a good 20 years ago, and with his increased activity as a photographer, his former address seemed the obvious choice for this pseudonym. Extensive touring as a stage designer, his affinity with the ideas of Joseph Beuys (Düsseldorf Art Academy), and his long-standing friendship with Wuppertal choreographer Pina Bausch are the defining elements that continue to shape the life and work of Frank Leimbach/Otto Böhne to this day. On the occasion of his photo exhibition at Kultur Reverenz, Otto Böhne showed photographs taken over the years in his neighborhood in Kleinbasel, between the Mittlere Brücke and the Wettsteinbrücke.
