MARK B. JAEGER

Less is more!

"Less is more" is a quote from Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in his quest for perfection. The motto aims to stimulate thought, even provoke it. What is important to the artist—as Mies van der Rohe demonstrates in architecture—is the beauty of simplicity, reduction to the essentials, and clear statements.

What does artistic condensation mean? Clarity of expression? Stimulation and communication with the viewer?

Images from throughout Mark Jaeger's photographic career were selected and arranged into thematic groups. The images are snapshots of our lived environment and show special effects with strong expression.

The exhibition explores various aspects such as aesthetics, simplicity, structure, contrast, light and shadow, colors, and harmony. A simple focus can certainly result in a concentration of exuberance. Exuberance in the sense of exaggeration, which in turn results in a reduction to a clear statement! Captured moments are shown that the photographic eye has seen and which intensify in the thematic grouping. Each image forms a small emotional experience in itself.
