Since 2004, Sascha Alexa Müller has been developing artworks that move, generate sounds, and produce light pulses. Behind them are sophisticated constructions that, with the help of a wide variety of technical components, never fail to fascinate viewers. Using sensors, her machines interact with people.
The exhibition features objects from the early days, but the focus is on more recent works. Social moods and autobiographical themes are addressed. The older constructions tend to be technically playful and fun. The newer ones, although not always clearly interpretable, feature themes that can sometimes be oppressive or abysmal. The technical side takes more of a back seat.
How fitting that Kultur Reverenz is located exactly between the St. Johann district, where Sascha Alexa Müller lives and works, and the museum dedicated to kinetic art.
