Pierre Grumbacher

Moved

The exhibition shows works by Pierre Grumbacher created in 2017/18. It focuses on people, their emotional worlds and emotions, and their forms of expression. In his wire sculptures, the artist depicts body language, gestures, and movement. He plays with light and shadow: the shadows cast create two-dimensional drawings that reinforce the message and dynamism of the sculptures.

Pierre Grumbacher's sculptures are each created from a single piece of wire. The artist is particularly interested in the path, the choice of path, and its consequence: the shadow cast. His sculptures first grow in his mind's eye before he picks up the wire.

Pierre Grumbacher works in studios in Basel and Castagnola.
