Peter Moilliet 1921–2016

creative arc

Peter Moilliet's works speak to us of his reverence for creation, for the beauty of form and its harmony. They also speak of the art of letting go and of understanding and accepting transience as a matter of course. His art allows us to recognize his sensitivity, his seriousness in his work, his modesty, as well as his humor, his wit, his imagination, and his creative power, thus finding direct access to our emotions.

Numerous works by the artist are well known in public spaces: for example, the archaic, imposing monumental sculpture of the four symbols of the Evangelists between the funeral halls of the Hörnli cemetery. Or the witty bronze figure of the monument conservator Riggenbach, known as "Dingedinge," on Leonhardskirchplatz.

It is a moving excerpt from his impressive body of work that Eva Moilliet Holinger, his daughter, allows us to see in this exhibition in his memory.
