Pierre Grumbacher

transformations

A twisted wire rotates around its own axis. It is inconspicuous. With the naked eye, it takes a lot of imagination to see what it could represent. The shutter opens and closes—the longer exposure times are audible. A figure becomes visible in the picture, partly blurred, translucent. Pierre Grumbacher is fascinated by these transformations and effects.

In the reverse process, concrete, rotating figures become images in which the lines drawn by the wire become surfaces that reinforce the original figure or mutate into a new form. Pierre Grumbacher uses these newly created forms as templates for sculptures, which he then sets in motion and photographs. In this process, Pierre Grumbacher has created works that are meaningful in their own right. The exhibition at Kulturreverenz shows a selection of objects and images from this series of transformations.
