Andreas Malzach's paintings and sculptures focus equally on figurative contours in combination with abstract elements. His focus on the interplay of materiality and color is also identical. He uses sheet steel as his painting surface. By partially rusting it, he creates different textures on the surface, which sometimes give the colors an intense luminosity and sometimes a mysterious matte depth.
As in his paintings, figurative contours have also become a distinctive feature of his sculptures. His current works are flowing forms cast in bronze.
Andreas Malzach's works are multi-layered and thrive on the fascinating combination of spontaneous gestures and technical precision.
