Ere Däster

NEW ORLEANS JAZZ IMPRESSIONS IN GRAPHICS AND WIRE

Ere Däster is a typical representative of the old Basel school, who is deeply attached to his hometown and birthplace. However, since love knows no bounds, he makes no secret of his feelings for New Orleans. He takes great pleasure in sharing his enthusiasm for the city on the Mississippi and its music with listeners and viewers. Many of his pictures transport us to New Orleans and, with it, to the jazz scene there.

As a gifted illustrator and graphic artist, he skillfully captures not only scenes from the jazz metropolis, but also subjects with other messages. Objects such as pictures evoke cheerfulness and imagination in the viewer and inspire with their artistic originality. One form of his design is monotype, a single print of an image that cannot be repeated. This process is very time-consuming. The result is therefore unique.

Historically, this was an etching plate made of copper, but nowadays the surface can vary from acrylic to zinc or glass. Monotypes are therefore rather rare.
In Ere Däster's monotypes, the image is painted on a glass plate and then printed on paper.
