Yasin Isanc

vision

Above the rooftops of the city, a sigh of relief, a glance upward, a gaze into the distance, a plunge into the depths. Yasin Isanc's cityscapes, abstracted into rhythmic patterns of color and form, merge with the surrounding landscape in some places, while in others they appear as independent formations that elude human appropriation.

For four years, Yasin Isanc has been exploring the view of the city, mainly from the roof terrace of his studio. In Isanc's reduction to the essentials, people are no longer mentioned. The city confronts the viewer alone; the accentuation of color nuances makes it seem mysterious and unattainable, creating a sense of alienation. Nevertheless, the image details chosen by Yasin Isanc evoke a feeling of familiarity and recognition in the viewer.

Yasin Isanc succeeds in initiating a nuanced inquiry through his paintings: into familiarity and foreignness, closeness and distance, the melancholy of urban life and the longing for a connection to nature.

With his series "Weitblick" (Foresight), he pays homage to the complexity and grace of the urban landscape and gives it a new reality.
